Home   about
Enigma Machine is a comic from the mind of Nicholas Fair. It crosses the boundaries of science-fiction and fantasy while always maintaining a dash of apocalypse that keeps everything nice and balanced. It may seem confusing, and at some times, random. That's because it's meant to. But do not fret! This chaos is in fact order that will come together in time.

One day, a pair of roommates find themselves to be the lucky owners of a inter-dimensional portal. Shenanigans and antics ensue. Mainly, kidnapping and torture. Unintended death. Those sorts of things.

"Right now I feel a bit like I'm reading a funnier version of Lost, because I have no idea whats going on but I want to find out"
-Phil, a Satisfied Customer

"You'll laugh yourself confused and confuse yourself laughing"
-Max, an Overly-Satisfied Customer

"Wait. The comic is a lot less funny, now"
-Also Max.

FAQ

 When does the comic update?
I try for once a week- sometimes more, sometimes less. It all depends on what else I have on my plate- but checking every Friday can't hurt. Or even more than that if you have OCD.

Why did you decide to make a comic?
I read more comics than should be healthily consumed by the average human being. As a design major with a penchant for art and writing, I thought it was only proper that I give back to the medium that I enjoy so much.

What is an Enigma Machine, and why would you name a comic that?
Enigma Machines were devices used during the World Wars that could encode and decode encrypted messages, somewhat similar to a cipher. I, however, heard of the term first being used as a nickname for a hobo in The Areas of My Expertise by John Hodgman, and I thought it sounded pretty awesome. I mean, it's a machine that makes enigmas! What's cooler than that?

What do you do besides make comics?
I am currently in university for a degree in Industrial Design, hoping to focus on concept illustration and product design. However, I do tend to draw a profuse amount in a way that does not relate to my schoolwork. I also read quite a bit, play the occasional game on Xbox live, dispense life-changing information, and build various mixed-media sculptures out of trash.

 How can I contact you?
I have an email for the site that I do hope doesn't get spammed to death, and it is . Feel free to send me a question or comment and I'll get back to you asap.
